Geocaching since January
2004. I have found a mere 53 caches, of which almost half have
been with a friend in Mississippi. I too would like to get paid
to do this on a regular basis, but alas I have to make a daily
appearance at one of our finer State Agencies and make sure their
computer systems keep humming right along. Ahhhhhhhhhh your tax
dollars at work. To keep in some sort of shape, so I can make
the hike up to the New C-Hill Cache, I referee soccer, both adult
and youth recreational leagues. In addition to my actual refereeing,
I also instruct and mentor new referees.

I began geocaching
in Aug of 2003 and rapidly logged over 400 caches in Northern
Nevada. Not picky about the caches that I log, I've been to small
micros along I-80 to the ones resting on top of the highest peaks
around. My favs are the ones that challenge me physically, but
I also enjoy the ones that reveal the unknown in this great desert
state. Now if only I could get paid for this.....

I'm the token Californian
on the admin team, which shows how diverse and inclusive GBES
is. To be honest, I think they let me help because they feel
sorry for my oil pan incident during last year's rally. They
figure that if they put me on admin, I won't get into any more
trouble out there in the desert. From Sacramento, I've been geocaching
since December 2003, and my only complaint about it is that I
so far have not been able to get anyone to pay me six figures
a year (and bennies) for the rest of my life to do it. Because
of that sad fact, I have to go to a classroom full of high school
students--every day, if you can believe that--and teach them
science, or they don't pay me...I hate that. And yes, I am related
to the Oats of Oats Park in Fallon. He's my great, great, uncle.

We started geocaching
in May 2002 and have not looked back since. We have enjoyed meeting
local cachers at both cache sites and at event caches. What a
great group of people geocachers are!

I first read about
Geocaching in an article in the Nov. 2003 issue of AARP. I had
just had major back surgery and was suppose to get out and walk
as much as I could, so I got a GPSr and have gotten more exersice
walking than I had in the last 5 years. It is a great Sport,
Hobby, Lifestyle, or whatever you want it to be. I have met some
of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, and had a wonderful
time doing it.
