What would Geocaching be
without Caches?
Route Caches:
You asked for more, well
we're giving you more. Scattered along the course, we've set
out virtual caches that all you need to do is find and write
down the code word. Time is ticking though, the team still has
to maintain the Leg Average.
Progressive Caches:
Okay, leave it to the Dr.
of Rockology to come up with a new idea (the real problem is
to keep him from coming up with ideas). These special caches
increase in point value the more you find, but to find each one,
you need to find the prior one. Each cache has the waypoint to
the next, and it's up to you to watch for them as you navigate
through the route. Progressive caches are not on the Route Sheets,
therefore, it's up to the team to decided if and when to look
for a Progressive Cache.
Multi-Cache:
A common suggestion was
to have a hunt the whole team can participate in. So, we're giving
everyone a chance to stretch their legs and go for a mild hike
through the desert, following each stage of the multi, until
the final one shows you the best that Nevada has to offer.
How Many Caches:
Last year you asked for
more caches. How can we resist requests like that? Well, we couldn't.
The Inaugural GBES Navigational Rally had 11 caches for your
finding and logging pleasure. This year we will more than triple
the number of caches teams will be able to find during the two
rallies. We're still working on the numbers, but rest assured
you will see a major increase in your cache-count when you're
finished logging the Second Annual GBES Navigational Rally.
Logging Those Caches:
You also asked for individual
caches to log instead of logging the Event-Cache again and again
for every cache found. Well, we listened and we have complied.
This time every Route, Progressive, Multi-Cache, and Course and
Checkpoint Challenges on the Rally Route will have its own corresponding
Geocaching.com Waypoint number.
